Manhattan Borough President Brad Holman Releases Weekly Update on Elections, Housing, and Immigration
In a weekly message to constituents, the Manhattan Borough President said this week’s primary elections reflected voters’ concerns about affordability and opposition to the Trump administration. The newsletter also highlighted efforts to support immigrant communities, the hiring of a director to help organize a Manhattan Tenants Union, and expressed condolences to those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela.
The Borough President wrote that “Manhattan voters once again sent a clear message” that they are looking for leaders who will address affordability and other issues.

As City Invests in Early Childhood Education, Questions Arise Over Pre-K Resources at PS 130X
BRONX, N.Y. — New York City leaders have emphasized expanding access to early childhood education and increasing investment in young learners. As the city continues to prioritize 3-K and Pre-K programs, questions are being raised about whether those investments are reaching classrooms at PS 130X.
According to the New York City Department of Education’s Galaxy Budget Summary for Fiscal Year 2026, PS 130X received $261,189 for 3K for All and $522,377 for 4K for All (Pre-K).
Despite those reported allocations, a teacher told New York Watching that many classroom materials remain old and in poor condition. According to the teacher, dramatic play kitchens have cabinet doors that are falling off, toys have not been replaced in years, and teachers were expected to purchase student holiday and end-of-year gifts with their own money because none were provided by the school.
The teacher questioned whether the level of funding reflected in the public budget is translating into meaningful improvements for students. While the Galaxy Budget identifies the amount allocated to the school’s early childhood programs, it does not, by itself, show how those funds were ultimately spent.
The concerns have prompted calls for greater transparency. Parents, educators, and taxpayers deserve a clear explanation of how early childhood funds are allocated and how much is directed toward classroom materials, educational resources, furniture, and other items that directly benefit children.
